A respected voice in indie rock makes his NCMA debut. Sam Beam, better known as Iron and Wine, performs in support of his fifth album, Ghost on Ghost, his first for the prestigious Nonesuch label.

Beam’s evocative tales of the vagaries of love, rendered with dreamlike imagery, have brought him a large and loyal fan base. His recordings have evolved from sparse, intimate performances to a sound that “more closely resembles the lush, gold-toned singer-songwriter records of the late ‘60s and early ‘70s, recalling Van Morrison’s Astral Weeks and Elton John’s Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” says Pitchfork magazine.

Rolling Stone said of Beam’s previous album Kiss Each Other Clean that “pop music hadn’t seen anything like it since the heyday of Cat Stevens.” And Paste magazine calls Ghost on Ghost the best Iron and Wine release to date, “an exemplary pop album of the highest order.”
