Cortête, at its core, is songwriter Elizabeth Haddix (vocals, double bass and acoustic guitar), Eddie Holm (vocals, guitar and bass), and Wes Newell (trombone, trumpet, flugelhorn, harmonica, keys, and more). It’s hard to categorize this genre-bending, all-original up-beat music. Haddix’s tunes are under the influence of Harlem Renaissance jazz, old Appalachian traditionals, Patti Smith, Bob Dylan, Johnette Napolitano, passion, motherhood and the never-ending struggle for social justice.
