Cross-Tie

Rock, Southern Rock, Classic Rock

Cross-Tie has its roots in the early 70’s (the exact details are a little fuzzy)
when two local Pittsboro, NC band, White Satin and Blue Onyx joined forces
to form Atlantis. After finding out there was already a band with that name
and after the tragic loss of drummer Randy Ray in an automobile accident,
the band changed its name to Cross-Tie and plowed forward. Playing mostly Southern Rock and Classic Rock (it was just called rock back then), Cross-Tie played in the Pittsboro, Cary and Apex area until 1976 when it dis-banded as everyone headed off in different directions. A highlight for the band was performing in front of a crowd of around 5000 people at the Battle of the Bands at Dorton Arena in Raleigh in February of 1976, finishing 6th out of 12 bands. In November of 2014, what started as a sort of a joke (40th Anniversary “Tour” sponsored by Depends and AARP), an idea took root. Conversations continued and by mid-2015, the first rehearsals were scheduled with the goal of eventually playing together on stage again somewhere. Rehearsals continued as time and
life have allowed and the goal-line is now in site. The Cross-Tie 40th(ish)
Anniversary concert is slated for October 29th, 2016 at The Pittsboro
Roadhouse & General Store. All members of the last incarnation are back
for the ride. If all goes well, who knows, maybe the “tour” will continue on
down the road.
