The Debonzo Brothers take a sharp turn towards straight ahead melodic indie rock on their third release, Carolina Stars, set for release in early 2014. Gone are the past flirtations with banjos, dobros, and finger-picked acoustic guitars. Instead, opting for unvarnished chunking guitar rhythms, and angular, punk influenced chord riffs. Americana ties remain in the fact that the group recorded at Pershing Hill Sound by Raleigh, NC veteran Greg Elkins, of early Whiskeytown recordings.
