I was grew up between Liberty,MS (pop 1200) and Meadville, MS. (pop 497). Depending on your map’s detail, you might say between McComb, MS (home of Bo Diddley) and Vadalia, LA (home of Jerry Lee Lewis). My first professional performance was for a bottle of Elderberry Wine when I was 14. At age 15, I was asked to go to Baton Rouge, LA to play guitar on a record. At 16 , having learned harmonica, guitar, steel guitar, banjo, and piano, I left home. Since 1969 when I left home, I’ve supported myself, my wife and 7 children as a musician.
