Swift Creek’s name pays tribute to the origins of this Americana band, formed five years ago in Central NC. Their highly original songs feature strong traditional and progressive bluegrass influences, a touch of gospel and a healthy dose of folk. Driving guitars and bass support the band’s signature three-part harmony singing, punctuated with jaw-dropping mandolin, fiddle and guitar solos.
The lineup is Kevin Brown, whose strong tenor leads, rhythm guitar and songwriting frame the band’s sound; Casey Elder, expertly playing the mandolin and dobro; Dan Smith, rocker-turned-Americana lead guitarist and baritone singer; Ashley Kovacs tearing it up on fiddle; bassist Dennis Hoyle setting the beat; and vocalist Ann Searcy, adding bluesy leads and spot-on harmony singing.
