Countdown Quartet
One of our favorite local bands of all time, The Countdown Quartet brings solid old-style R&B, jazz, funky originals, New Orleans spunk, and straight-up rock’n'roll. Always the best groove for young and old and everyone in between!
Dave Wright and Steve Grothmann formed the band in 1998 and have remarkably maintained the same intense energy and inspired talent that earned high praise from the outset. After adulting for years, and working with fifty plus sidemen and additions to their lineups, they still bring the best. Everyone is so happy that their show at Sadlack’s in 2007 was not actually their last show!

They have three releases on Yep Roc Records: their self-titled debut (1999), Party With! (2000), and Sadlack’s Stomp (2002) that brought great reviews by Billboard, CMJ Music Journal, Jazztimes, Modern Drummer. A lot of their original compositions were featured on MTV’s The Real World. These fellers are world-class and they take no prisoners.
